The world community continues to spend a lot of money on food programs around the world mainly in developing countries. Why those programs never achieved their goals? One of the best answers is that the fund is inappropriately allocated. Therefore, it is understandable that their programs usually fail. The first international goal of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) was: “Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger”. It can be reviewed how many countries were closed to that objective. The report will show just a few.
One of the best solutions is to relocate the fund. Funding organizations that can reach the targeted population will ameliorate the situation.

That’s been said: FOOD FOR ALL; here, will outline the differences between The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and The Healthy People 2020.
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are the United Nations’ goals which were established in 2000. They consist in eight (8) international goals. Those goals were adopted after the UN Millennium Declaration in 2000. “The eight Millennium Development Goals represent a unique global compact. Derived from the Millennium Declaration, which was signed by 189 countries; the MDGs benefit from international politic support. As such, they reflect an unprecedented commitment by the world’s leaders to tackle the most basic forms of injustice and inequality in our world: poverty, illeracy and ill-health” (LEE Jong-wook DG WHO 2005).
The un.org website said: “The eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015 – form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and all the world’s leading development institutions. They have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the needs of the world’s poorest.”
The Millennium Development eight Goals for 2015 are:
1 Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2 Achieve universal primary education
3 Promote gender equality and empower women
4 Reduce child mortality
5 Improve maternal health
6 Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
7 Ensure environmental sustainability
8 Develop a global partnership for development (UNDP)
The Healthy People 2020 is a United States’ healthy program which strives to improve health for people in the US by 2020. It consists of four (4) overarching goals. It was adopted in December 2010. According the CDC; “Healthy People 2020 is the federal government’s prevention agenda for building a healthy nation. It is a statement of national health objectives designed to identify the most significant preventable threats to health and to establish national goals to reduce theses. The vision of Healthy People 2020 is to have a society in which all people live long, healthy lives.” “The overarching goals of Healthy People 2020 are to: attain high-quality, longer lives free of preventable disease, disability, injury, and premature death; achieve health equity, eliminate disparities, and improve the health of all groups; create social and physical environments that promote good health for all; and promote quality of life, healthy development, and healthy behaviors across all life stages.”
There are similarities between the MDGs and the Healthy People 2020. Those similarities reside in the fact that both programs are almost the same objectives. The MDGs have eight (8) objectives while the Healthy People 2020 is concentrated on four (4) objectives. The only difference noticeable resides in the location of the program. The MDGs are a UN’s program (Goals) while the Healthy People 2020 is the US’ program (Goals).
Developing countries should perform their own similar programs and they can efficiently implement than accepting programs imposed to them just to get the fund they can route toward another destination.
